Some more models of Swedish vehicles. Parts for this Volvo "rundnos" (roundnose) was made around ten years ago by a friend of mine. In 1939 Volvo introduced a new truck, named "rundnos" or LV125. When WW2 started the Swedish military either orderd or requested civilian trucks to make up for the few trucks that was bought prewar. Due to the lack of petrolium many truck was rebuilt into "autogas/holzgas".

Later Volvo produced a military version of the LV125 truck, the fourwheel drive truck LV131/141/142 as well as chasies for the VKP42, some 800 trucks were built.

Here are som pictures of a the mobilazed Volvo LV125;

The "Artillerisystem 08" more known as "Archer" are now in service with the Swedish army. There are, will be, 36 Archers with another 12 in store. These 12 will be offered on the exportmarket.

A 3D-modell exist on Shapeways, made by "Keymaker", in different scales and I have bought it in 1/87 scale.

Hello Ola,

many thanks for the link and for showing your interesting model
The 'Archer' is a really impressive thing. I saw it in a movie in 'youtube' a longer time ago.
It's certainly gratifying when this 'beast' finally appears as an H0 scale model but this model seems to me a little bit simple, espacially with this price.

Since I'd seen this movie I hope that somebody who has enough information about the original construction would built a hand crafted master model for a short run production!

Kind regards

Did get back from my brother some tanks that he had painted camoflage on, now it´s up to me to paint the rest and get the decals on;

Bild

It´s 3D printed model in 1/87 scale from Artic Skunk (Shapeways) ....

Bild

... and I will use the models as cargo on my Railway waggons.

Bild

First out is a Renault FT17, one bought second hand in 1923 to be used together with the ten LKII for trails. The FT17 didn´t get any identifikation but was named "Putte" by the crew. The tank was scrapped in 1926.

Bild

In 1938 48 CKD AH-IV was bought. Named strv m/37 they where in service until 1953.

Bild

The domestic produced strv m/40 was built from 1941 and was in service until 1957. 20 was sold in 1960 to Dominican Republic and the tank was in combat there against US Marine.

Bild

After WW2 Sweden needed tank with bigger guns so some tankt was used for trails. One strv m/40 was upgunned with a 7,5 mm AT-gun and the tank was named PVKV IV A. The trail was unsuccesful. The tank was known as "Värjan" (sword).

Bild

Swedish tanks, m/38 m/39 m/40 and m/41, had Bofors 37 mm guns and Sweden needed tanks with bigger guns during WW2 so in 1943 strv m/42 started to be delivered, 282 tanks was built.

Bild

To support the infantry 36 SAV m/43 was built using 18 Strv m/41 and another 18 newbult chassies. These "Sturm artillery tanks" (Stormartilleri tanks) was first delivered with a 7,5 cm gun ...

Bild

but from 1945 it was replaced with a 10,5 cm gun. The SAV m/43 was in service until 1973.

Bild

More tanks on the way from my Brothers paintshop.

Hej Ola,

wonderful models again, thanks for showing. Good to hear that they are available from Shapeways, makes getting Swedish models a bit easier - and that FT-17 not only looks very good, but can be used almost universally.

First, to clerifiy, the models above are made by Arctic Skunk, I just painted them.

So to another 1/87 scale military model.

In 1978, as a sub-lieutenant, I´m embarked HMS Småland as a gunner and in charge of the turret 1. It was a Bofors Twin 12 cm turret and one of 34 turrets built. Four of these in service with the Swedish navy, six in Columbian navy and 24 with the Netherland Navy, all turrets on destroyers. The Bofors 12 cm m/50 was the best gun ever, capable of firing 40 rounds per minute, AA or SS.

In the spring of 1979 we had an incident when the twin 57 mm turret behind and above fired four rounds out of two did hit my turret inches from my place. Since then this gun, HMS Småland exist today as a museum ship in Gothenburg, is "my gun". I ask "3D Boats" on Shapeway if it was possible to get "my turret" as a model in 1/87 scale and yes it did;

So four and a half year later I finely can say that the Pansarbil m/39-40 Lynx are at last finished.

Bild

It´s one out of 48 armoured cars made. The first three was made for the Danishes in mid 1939, 18 was ordered but 15 was taken over by the Swedish army as Pbil m/39. Another 30 was then built as Pbil m/40. All 48 cars had the same turret but the three Danish hade instead an Madsen 20mm gun while the 45 Swedish had a Bofors 20 mm gun. The three Danish cars was taken over by Germany in april 1940 and their destiny is unknown. 13 of the Pbil m/39 was sold in 1958 to the Dominican Republic and some of them where in combat with US Maine there in 1965. The remaining Swedish Pbil m/30-40 was removed from active service in 1958, Today one Pbil m/40 are at the Pansarmuseum.

The model is from a resinkit made by Pansarfabriken, witch today don´t exist anymore, but a model is made by Artic Skunk / Shapeways.

Got some new models from Arctic Skunk / Shapeways yesterday.

Bild

One out of three Landsverken L-120 machine gun tanks built.

Bild

Sweden ordered two of L-120 which one was only a chassie of steel. The tanks wasn´t accepted by the army and later used for different trails. A third was built for Norway as their only tank, the "Rikstanken", in WW2. The Norwegian tank had a different turret and was captured in 1940 by Germany.

Bild

One out of 48 Czechoslovak built strv m/37 in 1938-39.

Bild

One out of 16 Landsverken L-60-S, strv m/38, built in 1938-39.

Bild

Another Landsverken L-60-SII, this time strv m/39, 20 built in 1940-41.

Next they will get their camouflage paint.

More 3D models from Arctic Skunk / Shapeways

Bild

Landsverken produced two types of six wheeled armored cars in the mid 1930. They where named type L-181 and L-180. The L-181 was produced first and L-180 later. A model of the L-181 exist from Artitec (1/87 scale) and it´s the Dutch version and Artitec have painted one in Swedish colors but it´s wrong, the Swedish army didn´t have L-181. Now the L-180 is made by Arctic Skunk in different versions, a Swedish, a Dutch and Irish version.

The older L-181 was produced in 19 samples to;
Lithuania, six in 1934
Finland (as L-182), one in 1935
Netherlands, 12 in 1936

The newer L-180 was produced in 30 samples to;
Denmark, two in 1935
Ireland, eight in 1935
Estonia, one in 1937
Netherlands, 12 plus two Command cars (identical but with dummy gun) in 1938
Sweden, five (ordered by Ireland but taken over by Sweden in 1940) Pbil m/41

Of these cars some where taken over by Germany or Soviet Union. If we exclude the L-181 and concentrate to the L-180. The fate of the Estonian is unclear, probably it was taken over by Soviet Union in 1940. The Danish and most of the Dutch was taken over by Germany and some even went to the Eastern front.

The L-180 was produced with a turret (Madsen) but Sweden chose to replace it on the five Pbil m/41 (formed Irish) with the "Lynx" turret. This is the same turret and gun as the Pbil m/39-40 Lynx.

To be clear, there is a large difference between L-180 and L-181. The former is wither and have different angels and a different radiator.

Bild

Landsverk L-180, Swedish Pansarbil m/41 ready to get it´s camouflage.

Bild

The fake Pbil m/41 from Artitec on the right. It´s a Landsverken L-181 painted by Artitec as a Pbil m/41 - wrong!

One Strv 81 ready to get it´s green military paint. It´s an Artitec Centurion Mk III and it´s right for a Swedish Strv 81 that we got 80 of starting in 1953. Another 160 was bought short after. In 1959 110 Centurion Mk 10 was bought as Strv 101. The older Strv 81 was then up gunned with a new gun and named Strv 102.

Bild

Bild

Also ready to get a military paint is a platoon of five Strv m/41.

On my workbench are three Strv m/40 receiving paint on their tracks.

Bild

So an odd truck, it´s a WW T1 that was used by a unit or trail in 1956. There was formed a squadron for reconnaissance and attack by one of our Cavalry regiments. The squadrons used some 30 jeeps, WW T1 and trucks as well as bicycles. My brother found some pictures of the unit and had to build a WW truck as well write an article.
