Re: Galerie Ian Simpson - Vehicles
Hi Ian!
Almost missed your Hellcat, would have been a shame, it looks great!!!
Where did you get it from? I tried to get hold of one or two, but they are sold out, as it seems.
Cheers
Ralf

Thanks Ralf
It is an Artmaster kit which I got from Panzerfux if I remember correctly. It is a really nice resin and Photo etch kit which goes together easily. Hope you find one soon as I will look forward to seeing more of your creations.

Re: Galerie Ian Simpson - Vehicles
Hello Ian,
Superbe work, your Marder II. There is only one thing that I would have changed : the tracks. You used the tracks which were included in the kit, unfortunately the included tracks have the early type idler-wheel and as far as I know all Marder II"s have the second type idler wheel. Tracks with the late idler wheel can only be found in the Trident Pz.Kpfw. II F kit. In my kit, I immediate changed the tracks. I never found a real photo of a Marder II with the early type idler wheel, but maybe I get surprised sometime in the future, with the WH you never know...
Nevertheless your Marder II looks awesome, very nice paintjob. I also like the comparison with the King Tiger, just like David and Goliath.
Greetz,
Bert

Thank you Bert
The tracks are not the greatest part of the kit I must agree but not knowing any better I just stuck with what was to hand. Maybe one day someone will make a suitable replacement for them and make a good kit into a great one.

Re: Galerie Ian Simpson - Vehicles
Hy, Ian
Well, well, well .. What can I say? I like the last tank´s of your gallery, very well! The VK (it´s from Artmaster) look´s really great in these mixture of an used King Tiger-turret on a rust primed chassis. Great stuff! The Panzer IV look´s awful great, too! (I mean it positive The mud in the track´s looking really fresh and dump. Waht do you use for it?
Best wishes for your future work´s,
Norman

Re: Galerie Ian Simpson - Vehicles
Thanks Norman
I always value your comments good and bad. The Pz IV was originally going to be painted in winter camouflage and have snow on it but when I looked at the model with the snow effect I used it just looked like a very hairy white tank and so had to try and remove most of it and cover the rest with mud to hide the bits that I could not get rid of.
The mud is from Tamiya and is called 'Diorama Texture Paint - Soil Effect - Dark Earth' and is one of several different types of texture paint they make but the Dark Earth seems more effective than most but use an old paint brush as it will ruin it for future painting use.
Ian
P.s The Vk4502 is from SF modellbau

Hello Ian
Fine camo. And, as always , I like the streakings from the upper edges of the side armor, as well as the dust on the skirts and wheels. Very good job!
Cheers, Norman
